Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease, an issue that affects the structures that support the teeth, is a chronic disease that affects more than 40% of US adults. Everyday more evidence is presented that proves the link between periodontal disease and adverse effects to your systemic health, including heart disease!

What is Periodontal Disease?

Periodontal disease can range from moderate gingivitis to chronic periodontitis and can even lead to missing teeth! It can cause problems like halitosis (bad breath), pain and bleeding gums among other concerns.

What to Expect

A full periodontal charting is completed as part of a proper, comprehensive exam. The findings will be discussed between you and your dentist, and then appropriate treatment will be suggested to return your periodontal tissues to optimal health. If needed, a consultation with a periodontal specialist may be suggested.
